Following graduation from Sydney University
in 1981 Dr Caldwell spent his internship and resident years at RPA Hospital, Sydney. He commenced Orthopaedic training in 1987 and following graduation in 1991 he commenced sub-specialty training as a Fellow in Knee surgery. Following a Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery in Baltimore he commenced practice in 1991.
Dr Caldwell has a particular interest in knee surgery, sports medicine and trauma. He is involved in research into Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction and has undertaken over 1500 such procedures. He was also the Medical Venue Manager for Weightlifting for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
