Dr Leo Pinczewski
After graduating from Sydney University, Dr Leo Pinczewski completed his Orthopaedic training in 1983. He performed a Fellowship in Arthritis Surgery in Edinburgh in 1982 before returning to commence practice in 1984.

Dr Pinczewski is a co-founder of the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre and is internationally renowned for his research and development in the field of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and joint replacement surgery. He has performed over 9,500 ACL reconstructions and continues clinical research in the fields of arthroscopic reconstruction and knee arthroplasty.
Dr Pinczewski’s memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Australian Orthopaedic Association, Australian Knee Society, Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Posterior Cruciate Ligament Study Group and the International Cartilage Repair Society. He was awarded an honorary life membership to the Arthroscopy Association of North America in 2004.

Along with many publications in internationally recognised journals, Dr Pinczewski’s commitment to research has resulted in many awards including the Evelyn Hamilton Trust Memorial Prize for Best Scientific Presentation at the Australian Orthopaedic Association annual scientific meetings in 1981, 2001 and 2006. He received the American British Canadian Travelling Fellowship (1992), the Sports Medicine Australia -Best Conference Paper in Clinical Science (1994), the Sports Medicine Australia - Research Excellence Award (1995), and was awarded the prestigious AOA Award for Orthopaedic Research in 2006.

Dr Pinczewski has been invited to demonstrate his surgical techniques in 20 countries to date and is frequently invited to present his research at international forums. For the last two consecutive years he has delivered an Instructional Course Lecture in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury and Reconstruction at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
