Michael O'Sullivan performs hip and knee surgery. He has a particular interest in primary and revision hip and knee replacement as well as hip arthroscopy surgery.
Dr Michael O'Sullivan graduated from the University of NSW with Honours in 1987. He then commenced his Post Graduate Orthopaedic training in 1994 and completed this in1997.
In 1998 he completed a Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive surgery at the Institute of Bone & Joint Diseases in Phoenix, Arizona, USA followed by a Fellowship in Hip Replacement surgery at Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter in the UK. On returning to Australia in 1999 he completed a six month Fellowship in Joint Replacement surgery with Dr William Walter.
Dr O’Sullivan was in practice with Dr Walter until joining North Sydney Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Centre in 2004.
Dr O'Sullivan primarily specialises in hip surgery as well as performing knee replacements. He has a particular interest in primary and revision hip and knee replacement as well as hip arthroscopy. He operates at the Mater Hospital & the Mater Orthopaedic Day Surgery & consults at the Mater Clinic & the Stadium Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre.
Dr O’Sullivan is an active member of the Arthroplasty Society of Australia & was Secretary & then President of the ASA from 2013 to 2016. He remains actively involved in research with the North Sydney Orthopaedic Research Group & regularly presents at both local & international meetings. He is also a member of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy & the Hip Preservation Society of Australia.
