The North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre is one of Sydney's leading orthopaedic and sports medicine practices.
It has a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence, particularly for the treatment of knee injuries, foot and ankle injuries and shoulder injuries.
The clinic has played a leadership role in clinical research and the education of medical professionals through its Fellowship Programs and its commitment to the Sydney Orthopaedic Registrar Training Program.
North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre was formed in 1983 by Dr Merv Cross, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Ken Crichton Sports Medicine Physician, and two physiotherapists, Greg Craig and Ian Collier.
The practice was created after Dr Cross had worked at the Hughston Clinic, Georgia, USA in 1973, where he witnessed the advantages of providing patients with the best available Orthopaedic, Sports Medicine, and physiotherapy care.
NSOSMC rapidly developed a reputation for excellent multidisciplinary care, and became the preferred referral centre for dealing expertly and efficiently with acute and chronic sporting injuries, as well as the full spectrum of orthopaedic and sports medicine disorders and degenerative musculoskeletal conditions.
NSOSMC’S move to the Mater Clinic in 2009 represented the realisation of Dr Cross’ vision to provide world-class care on-site, with patient access to the latest imaging investigations, complementing superior clinical care on-site, with patient access to the latest imaging investigations, complementing superior clinical care, expert surgical intervention, day surgery facilities, expert nursing care, top-level physiotherapy, and a fully equipped hospital with level 1 ICU.
Today, the clinic has became the benchmark for orthopaedic, sports medicine, and radiology practices Australia-wide.
