Dr David Duckworth

David Duckworth performs arthroscopic, reconstructive, replacement and trauma surgery to the shoulder and elbow.

Dr Duckworth’s key surgical interest is shoulder replacement surgery and management of complex fracture cases such as clavicle fractures.

Dr Duckworth is best known for his relaxed and professional manner and he is passionate about ensuring his patients receive the best possible outcome.

David Duckworth

Born in Sydney, and educated at Kings, he then studied medicine at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. After graduating in 1986 he undertook Orthopaedic training on the Sydney Orthopaedic training programme and obtained his surgical fellowship, FRACS (Orth), in 1996.

Following this, he completed a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow surgery with Professor F. A. Matsen III at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA in 1996-97. Professor Matsen is a leading pioneer in shoulder replacement surgery. (www.orthop.washington.edu/faculty/Matsen). Dr Duckworth returned to Sydney and commenced his practice in 1998.

Dr Duckworth now runs a busy practice at Norwest Private Hospital, Sydney Adventist Hospital at Wahroonga and Mater Hospital at Wollstonecraft. He is also a visiting surgeon and head of the Orthopaedic Department at Hornsby Public Hospital. He does shoulder and elbow trauma call at all hospitals and has a particular interest in reconstructing difficult shoulder fractures.

Today, research is a large part of Dr Duckworth’s focus. This is a result of years of experience in Orthopaedics and the drive for better patient outcomes. He is currently researching clavicle fractures, radial head fractures and advances in shoulder replacement surgery.
